Optimal Reality - DTP Platform

Optimal Reality (the DTP Platform) is a suite of geospatial applications for the Victorian Department of Transport. I led engineering teams of five to six across several of its applications, including the Road Incident Database (RID) and Map Manager, a foundational tool that geospatially aligns the maps used by different government services such as VicRoads and VicTraffic. I aligned strategy and decision-making across back-end, front-end, UX/UI and BA teams owning four interconnected apps, drove a platform-wide admin-permission refactor that enabled secure access for external operators such as Victorian councils, and designed the GraphQL API contracts that kept front-end and back-end teams in sync.

  • Lead team of five engineers to deliver Road Incident Database (RID)
  • Lead team of six engineers to deliver Map Manager, foundational application allowing DTP to geo spatially align maps used by different government services (e.g. VicRoads, VicTraffic..)
  • Aligned strategy, processes, and decision-making across Back End, Front End, UX/UI and BA teams owning four different apps to allow refactoring and implementation of improved platform wide admin permission system, enabling secure usage for operators external to DTP (e.g. Victorian Council Operators)
  • Drove design of GraphQL API contracts ensuring alignment between front and back end teams
